Good evening parents or guardians of Bishop Ryan students. Mid-term report cards will be distributed to students on Friday November 11. Please review the report with your child and complete the attached response sheet which will be returned to their period one teacher. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your child’s teachers. Also, The January Final exam schedule is posted on the school’s website at br.hwcdsb.ca in the Parents and Students’ tab. Finally, next Friday November 18 is a system P.A day and there will be no classes for students.

Is your child in grade 10 to 12? Have you started to think about post secondary pathways and destinations for your child? This invitation is extended to the Parent’s of grade 10 – 12 Students. St. Mary’s High School is hosting a Pathway Night, next Thursday Nov. 17th from 6-8:30pm. Forty Colleges and Universities have confirmed their attendance as well as another 17 Institutes, Organizations and Trade Associations. It is a great opportunity for you to explore Post Secondary destinations in one evening. We hope to see you there.
Also Mohawk College is hosting a Luncheon on November 21st at Mohawk College. If you are interested please contact Ms. Byrne in Student Services. Please note spaces are limited.

This is a message for all parents of Bishop Ryan students:
The November meeting for the Catholic School Council will take place on Monday November 21. The meeting time has been changed to begin at 6:15pm for this session. The next meeting will take place on December 19.

In appreciation of Bishop Ryan’s generous support to a recent clothing drive, our uniform supplier Sportscor Marketing will be offering no sales tax on all school uniform purchases until December 23rd . This offer is available at both the Bishop Ryan School Store and the main store location at 208 Ottawa St. N.

The following message contains information about the next two weeks at Bishop Ryan.
The last day of semester one classes is Monday January 23. Exams take place from Tuesday January 24 until Monday January 30th . The morning exams begin at 8:30a.m. and the afternoon exams at 12 p.m. Students are to return course textbooks the day of the exam. All Students are to be in full school uniform during exams and busses will be running at their regular times. Guidance counsellors will be available for timetable changes during the exam days from 8:15am to 1p.m.
Tuesday, January 31 and Wednesday, February 1st are P.A. days. Staff will be in the building but will not be available to meet with students.
Thursday, February 2nd is the exam viewing day with a noon dismissal. All students are to be in full uniform and busses will be leaving at 12:10 p.m. Grade 8 orientation activities will be taking place during the afternoon.

This is a message for Bishop Ryan students writing an exam on Monday, January 30 who use the HSR city busses to get to school. In the event of a disruption to the HSR city bus service, students who use the service must make alternate transportation arrangements to get to and from school. The First Student School Bus service is not affected by an HSR city bus disruption and will run as scheduled. Exams will take place as scheduled on Monday, January 30 starting at 8:30 a.m. Please listen to our local radio and TV stations for updates on the HSR city bus service.

Bishop Ryan students received their first semester final report cards on Friday, February 3 as well as their credit counselling summary. Please go over the report card with your child and ensure that the credit counselling summary is accurate. Also given to your child to bring home was a family information pamphlet on “Responding to Bullying Behaviour”, a letter from the Principal regarding the school uniform , and a letter regarding the revised Police/School Board protocol. Students in grade ten classes also received a letter regarding “Preparing for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test” which will be written by all grade ten students on Thursday, March 29 Students that owe textbooks or money are asked to clear up their outstanding account in the attendance office.
