Health and Wellness.

This web quest focuses on self assessment of skills and on health care careers, especially in Hamilton, Ontario, and in surrounding areas. This web quest addresses and evaluates overall and specific English 4E1 curriculum expectations This web quest and related tasks fulfill the requirement for the Specialist High Skills Major in the Health and Wellness Specialty area for English 4E1. Part One and Part Two are to be completed and the evaluation tasks form part of the 30% final evaluation for students in ENG4E1; this task is part of the Culminating Activities. Students who have declared Health and Wellness as their speciality are required to complete this CLA.

This web quest builds on the knowledge and understanding gained by students through the focus in ENG4E1 which is on the workplace. Throughout this course, students have read, through fiction and nonfiction, a number of pieces of literature, and print and online articles that deal with issues, concerns, and people in the workplace. Students complete authentic performance tasks investigating healthcare careers in Hamilton and area, and consolidate their learning at the end of this unit by writing about themselves and their possible futures in healthcare. This investigation will also require students to self-assess their own strengths, including employability skills.
