OSSLT Field Test information for Grade 11 students and non-graduating Grade 12 students

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Students,



The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO is field testing an online Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). If successfully completed, students will earn the secondary literacy requirement, a graduation requirement.



Who will be writing?

Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School is administering this field test to students in Grade 11 and non-graduating Grade 12 students. Students who participate in this field test and are successful, will have it included on their transcript. Students who are unsuccessful will have an opportunity to earn the requirement prior to graduation.



Students learning remotely who wish to participate in the field test must complete the following survey no later than Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 12:00pm. Arrangements, under the guidance of public health, will be made for safe, in-person participation subject to school capacity. Please note that students learning remotely who wish to participate must arrange transportation to and from school on their scheduled field test date and time.

When will students be writing the field test?

The field test dates at Bishop Ryan CSS will occur from Monday, April 26, 2021 to Tuesday, May 4, 2021?. Students will be notified in advance when their cohort/class will be writing.



How can students prepare for the field test?

Students can prepare for the field test by accessing the OSSLT myClass site. The myClass site provides students with numerous practice activities and a video that provides an overview of the online platform. In addition, EQAO has offered students the opportunity to become familiar with the online test and its platform through EQAO’s online practice test. Participating students are encouraged to prepare and practice before their designated test day.
