Also a reminder to students that March break is a great opportunity to earn Christian Service Hours and there is a top 10 list of eligible charitable organizations in student services and online.

This message is for all students who use the school parking lot to park your vehicle and respect for our neighbours. A few reminders of the expectations when using the lot. Please note the use of the school parking lot is a privilege not a rite. Firstly, your vehicle must be registered with the school and you are to display the school issued parking tag at all times while your vehicle is parked on school property. Secondly, all students are to use the last 5 rows closest to the row of homes at the back of the school parking lot. If there are no more spots available you are to use the over flow parking lot located on the west side of the football field, which is the Trinity Road side. If you choose to park your vehicle in the areas deemed for staff, a parking lot attendant will be informed and you will face charges and lose all parking privileges at the school. Thirdly, when driving your vehicle on school property or on the road please respect the Highway Traffic Act and drive cautiously at all times. We want to ensure the safety of all students and staff at Bishop Ryan. Finally, when visiting establishments during, before, or after school please maintain respect at all times of people and property. We expect your behaviour to exemplary at all times. Road closures and construction in front of Bishop Ryan FROM THE City of Hamilton. Closures to Upper Mount Albion Rd. and Highland Rd. W. to start May 24

Hamilton, ON – May 20, 2016 – Upper Mount Albion Rd. between Highland Rd. and Stone Church Rd. will be closed starting Tues. May 24, 2016 for approximately six to eight weeks for storm sewer installation and road urbanization. The works are to accommodate the development of the adjacent lands on Upper Mount Albion Rd.

A road closure is also planned for Highland Rd. W. between Pritchard Rd. and Upper Mount Albion Rd. starting Tues. May 24, 2016 for approximately five to six weeks. The closure is required to construct a new signalized intersection at the proposed Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway project – the link between Stone Church Rd. E. and Rymal Road E. During this time, only localized construction traffic will be permitted. There will be no through-traffic.

Due to the concurrent closures, Highland Rd. W. will be closed to through-traffic between Pritchard Rd. and Winterberry Drive. Detour route signage will be posted. Local access for Upper Mount Albion Rd. residents (south of Highland Rd.) is available from the east via Winterberry Drive. Motorists should expect delays and higher than normal traffic volumes along the posted detour route. There may also be some minor HSR service related delays during this construction period.

The City of Hamilton thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as we complete these infrastructure improvements.

Furthermore our school was informed by the site supervisor that they will be laying asphalt during the week of May 24 to 27, in front of our school. They may require all four days to complete the work. This may add to the traffic delays.

Dress Code Policy

Dear Parents and Guardians

This is a reminder in regards to the school uniform and following the dress code policy. Students NOT in uniform will be addressed at the Attendance Office by their Vice-Principal. If the uniform infraction is not immediately correctable, then they student may be held at the Attendance Office for the remainder of the day, the student may be sent home with permission, or the student may be given a period of time to correct the uniform offence. Students who are NOT in uniform on more than one occasion will be awarded progressive discipline that may eventually lead to a suspension.

The Bishop Ryan dress code policy continues to ensure that every student wears a school uniform on campus and is in compliance with the policy before, during and after the instructional day. The common dress code has a positive effect on school identity, unity and pride. The uniform serves to promote our image in the community; it enhances security in the school; it reduces peer pressure and cost in terms of school attire. If one is proud to attend Bishop Ryan, one should be proud to wear its uniform.

Thank you in advance for cooperation and have a good day. For more information, please visit br.hwcdsb.ca.
